Air travel has always been my favorite form of traveling. You could go to any place on the planet through an airline terminal. I am currently on my way to an exciting destination and as I look out at the sunset, I remembered something that inspired me long ago. While gathering inspiration for my first volume, The Young Guardians and the Genesis Spell, I looked out my window on the plane and witnessed the clouds flowing past like a silver current. Upon gazing upon this sight, I thought of the ideal situation Joshua Rauje would be when his ability to fly would first manifest. He would be drifting through the misty heavens, marveling at how small the world is below him. Of course he almost became a bug on the windscreen of a plane, but he left the experience with a refined view of the world around him.
Among the various forms of inspiration I experience for my writing, traveling is one of my favorite forms because I actually get to savor the world outside of my hometown. In every location I visit, there is always something that grants me inspiration for me to apply in a future work. In some cases this inspirations could come from the most unlikely place. Last December, I travelled to the island of Kauai in Hawaii and its lush and tropical environment was a great experience to behold and gave me ideas for landscapes of the worlds that exist in my work. Later this month, I will be traveling to a location that is both exciting and somewhat exotic, but what this location is will remain a secret until I arrive. I have visited this place before five years ago and I swiftly discovered how it received its famous nickname. In fact, as a side story, the Young Guardians do visit this location sometime before the events of volume three and it cost them their original form of transportation. I will reveal more in the weeks to come.
I have just started the fourth chapter of my upcoming short story and it is a chapter I am particularly excited about. The reason for this is because the supervillain will be officially introduced and he is one frightening fellow. His powers will be based on gravitational force and the way he acquires these powers will make his external appearance match his malevolent nature. I am eager to write his showdown with the main character in future chapters.
Over the weekend, I have started the third chapter of my upcoming short story. As I continue to write, I start to visualize how the new character would perceive the world due to the fact that he lacks a physical body. Based on what his powers would consist of, I thought he would be able to see every object on a molecular level as well as see all forms of energy. With this in mind, the character’s view of the world will be considerably more complex than that of a normal person’s. In addition, the character’s love interest is introduced and she can sense the emotions of those around her. Overall, the main character’s elaborate new worldview and his love interest’s ability to sense emotions will create an interesting combination as the plot unfolds. I look forward to exploring more of this short story and hope to complete it in the near future. Wish me luck!
I have made considerable progress with the editing process of my upcoming third volume. Now I have reached the 27th chapter, which leaves me with 8 chapters left. I am getting very close to finishing the editing and commencing the forthcoming publication. In addition, I have come up with more future works that will enable my series to branch out beyond the main five volumes. The fourth volume will feature five new characters who will join the Young Guardians in their crusade against evil. With this in mind, I have decided that each of these five characters will have their own stand-alone books that will elaborate their origins, backstories, and supervillains. Also, there will be another stand-alone book in which these five characters meet and band together against a threat they cannot face alone. I look forward to getting started with these stories. Wish me luck!
When I started writing volume three, I wanted to provide the Young Guardians with their most difficult challenge yet that would literally push them to the limit. To organize this challenge, I decided the Young Guardians would have to face the largest group of supervillains they had ever fought. The reason why this would be a significant challenge for them is because in the first book, they were mere rookies up against a single supervillain while in the second volume, they were semi-veteran crime fighters up against a supervillain with three minions. Now, with three years of superhero experience under their belt, I decided that the Young Guardians would be up against literally an army of supervillains, including Vogan, the main villain of the whole series, himself! Some of these supervillains are from previous volumes while others have a history with the Young Guardians during the time skips, all wanting revenge! Most important of all will be the Young Guardians’ showdown with the main villain, Vogan. When they confront Vogan, the extent of the Young Guardians’ limitations will be fully demonstrated. Overall, the Young Guardians are going to have the fight of their lives in the upcoming third volume so get ready for an epic battle!
