I would say that the publication of my first book was one of my most blissful moments. When I received the first copies, I felt like a proud father holding his newborn child in his hands. I admit that it was almost like a pleasant out-of-body experience like I had been emerging from a chrysalis after a lengthy metamorphosis. At that moment, I had discovered a way to create a career out of my imagination. It would be fair to say that it was a rite of passage.
Two months later, things got even better! My first volume, The Young Guardians and the Genesis Spell, was nominated for the 2010 EVVY Awards. Then the Orange County Department of Education had me as their keynote speaker in 2009. The OCDE invited over 200 people from various school districts and I gave them a speech elaborating on my challenges with my autism. At the end of my speech, I received a standing ovation. One might say that being the keynote speaker for the OCDE was the first time I served as an autism ambassador. I was twenty years old!
The next day, all of my friends, family, and loved ones (several hundred strong) gathered at The Old Spaghetti Factory, where a celebration was held for my first published work. There were decorative cakes, book signings, and all of the pasta we could eat. In addition, several of my loved ones had read my book before the celebration and they enjoyed it.
That weekend was the best time of my life alongside WonderCon 2015. The level of recognition and support I gained from the EVVY Awards, OCDE, and my loved ones filled me with more hope and gratitude than I know what to do with. I will cherish that wonderful weekend, and my first volume, until the end of my days.
Here is the synopsis for my upcoming third volume, The Young Guardians and the Revelation Orb:
“A year has passed since the Young Guardians defeated the demon Fanoxean. Now they face their greatest challenge yet. An ancient enemy finally emerges from the shadows and seeks to change the world in ways no one can imagine. Secrets will be revealed and alliances will be formed as the Young Guardians confront their ultimate nemesis.”
My third volume, The Young Guardians and the Revelation Orb, has begun the final phases of its publication process. The interior and cover designs have been approved so now they are putting everything together for the final product. This is a very exciting time because it looks like volume three will be released in time for the WonderCon book signing next month. I will keep you updated on any further developments.
I have exciting news! I have just started the fifth chapter of my short story and it turns out I might finish the short story sooner than I originally calculated. The fifth chapter will foreshadow the main character’s battle against the supervillain. The main character will have a trump card in defeating the supervillain that no one will expect. Both characters wield the most powerful forces in the universe, energy and gravity, so I believe it will be an interesting fight. Wish me luck and I will keep you updated on any further developments.
My publisher released the final draft of my third volume’s cover. At the rate the publication is going, it looks like it will be released in time for WonderCon. In addition, the title of the upcoming third volume is The Young Guardians and the Revelation Orb. The origins of this title will be explained in future posts and I will keep you updated on any further developments.
My publisher has created a high resolution version of my cover illustration that they will apply to the final version of my upcoming third volume. I can now see details that I could not see with the previous version. Next week, my publisher will be adding the title along with any other lettering. I will keep you posted on any further developments.
I have great news! I have received the cover illustration for my third volume! The illustration includes Vogan, the main villain of the entire series! I will keep you updated on any further developments!
