One of the characters in Game of Thrones I find interesting is Gendry, the sole surviving child of Robert Baratheon. The last time we saw him was when he was smuggled out of Dragonstone. What happened to him after that is unknown. I do like this possible idea about his final fate. After Stannis Baratheon was defeated at Winterfell, Gendry is not only Robert Baratheon’s only living child, but he is also the only living person with Baratheon blood in his veins. If he resurfaces, Melisandre and Davos Seaworth know his true heritage and if they encounter him again they might be able to spread the word about him. This claim would be further bolstered by Bran Stark’s knowledge of the past, present, and future. If Gendry can consolidate a solid claim, he might seek the Iron Throne or the new monarch might legitimize him as Gendry Baratheon and give him lordship of the Stormlands. I hope this scenario happens because Gendry deserves a happy ending after he was hunted like an animal by the Lannisters and tortured by Melisandre.

There has been a theory amongst Game of Thrones fans about Jon Snow’s heritage. They believe that Jon Snow’s real parents are Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, which would make Ned Stark his uncle, not his father. I agree with this theory based on the facts and clues that the books and the show provide. To begin with, one must understand Rhaegar Targaryen’s relationship with Ned Stark’s sister Lyanna.

Before the events of the books and show, Lyanna was abducted by Rhaegar, which was one of the catalysts that started Robert’s Rebellion. Then Rhaegar has three members of the Kingsguard, including their Lord Commander, watch over Lyanna at the Tower of Joy in Dorne.

The Kingsguard are sworn to protect the royal family so why would they guard a woman who is not of royal blood? The most obvious possibility is that Rhaegar secretly married Lyanna and impregnated her with an heir. If this is the case, then those three Kingsguard were posted there to guard their prince’s child, Jon. This would make Jon Snow Daenerys Targaryen’s nephew and only known living relative!

When Ned Stark and his bannermen went to rescue Lyanna, she was on the verge of death for currently unknown reasons. Based on the theory, it is possible Lyanna died of childbirth. This would explain what Lyanna meant when she said, “Promise me, Ned” when she spoke to her brother before she died. Her dying wish may have been for Ned Stark to take care of her son.

If this is the case, then Ned Stark may have made everyone believe that Jon was his bastard son in order to protect him from Robert Baratheon and the Lannisters. Since Robert Baratheon was obsessively in love with Lyanna, he would have tried to kill Jon and everyone else who got in his way. As for the Lannisters, Ned was probably thinking they would kill him like their bannermen did to Rhaegar’s other children.

The only other person besides Ned Stark who would know the truth about Jon’s heritage is Howland Reed. If he were to step forward and confess what really happened at the Tower of Joy, then it is possible that Jon Snow may have a claim to the Iron Throne now that his death freed him of his oath to the Night’s Watch. This claim would also be bolstered by the knowledge of the past, present, and future that Bran Stark acquired from the three-eyed raven.

Hopefully, the show will shed some light on this theory since the books are falling behind schedule. Either way, I hope this theory is correct and Jon cleanses the world in fire and blood as winter comes!

Aegon_VI_con_Compañía_Dorada_by_Diego_Gisbert©I have been reading the Game of Thrones books and I have a few theories about the mysterious character who calls himself Aegon Targaryen VI, son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Elia Martell. There have been countless issues and theories revolving around the character because Aegon was supposedly dead before the events of the books, but in A Dance with Dragons it was revealed that he may in fact be alive. The reason for this is because the spymaster of King’s Landing Varys claimed be replaced Aegon with an impostor infant who was killed instead of him. Then after sending him into hiding in Essos, Varys had secretly been training Aegon for his future role as King of the Iron Throne.

In my own opinion, I believe “Aegon” may be an impostor raised to believe he was the real Aegon. If Varys wanted to convince the Seven Kingdoms that he was the real Aegon when the time came, he would have just taken Aegon into hiding instead of replacing him with another infant. That way, the Seven Kingdoms wouldn’t know his final fate until he revealed himself. Also, even though “Aegon” has been trained all his life to rule and has all the necessary skills to be King, there is no guarantee that his descendants will be good kings or queens, which would ultimately doom Varys’s plan.

There have been multiple hints that “Aegon” may not be a Targaryen at all, but a survivor of House Blackfyre, who were close relatives of House Targaryen who tried to overthrow them multiple times. While it was mentioned that the male line of House Blackfyre is extinct, they made no mention about the female line of House Blackfyre. With this in mind, “Aegon” might be either the son or descendant of the female line of House Blackfyre.

Since House Blackfyre tried to overthrow the Targaryens on multiple occasions, the current conditions of the Seven Kingdoms would greatly work in their favor for a variety of different reasons. First, the War of the Five Kings has made the Seven Kingdoms weaker and more vulnerable than they have ever been, which will make them easier to conquer. Also, since the Targaryens were the only ones standing in House Blackfyre’s way of inheriting the Iron Throne, this would also be beneficial for them because the only known Targaryen is on the other side of the world and unable to oppose them.

In general, I cannot wait to find out the truth (if there even is one) about “Aegon” when the new book comes out.

The latest episode of Game of Thrones gave me both thrills and chills for a variety of different reasons. To begin with, I am glad we finally discovered the origins of the White Walkers. Knowing their origins, the White Walkers are similar to nuclear weapons in the sense that they were created by the Children of the Forest to serve as a deterrent towards the First Men, but they also had the power to destroy their creators. In the end, the White Walkers were like Frankenstein’s monster and turned on their creators. I hope Bran Stark will make it back to The Wall alive and come out of his warg dream so he can fulfill his destiny.

In addition, I believe that Theon and Yara Greyjoy are going to replace Victarion Greyjoy’s storyline in that they will take the Iron Fleet to Daenerys Targaryen and win her support. The reason for this would be to not only gain the numbers and influence they would need to conquer the mainland, but also to avenge their father. In a sense, Daenerys and the ironborn need each other because Daenerys has infantry and cavalry and no navy while the ironborn have a navy, but no infantry or cavalry. In this sense, they would be very beneficial to one another.

This episode Brienne of Tarth heading towards the Riverlands to recruit the Tullys to the Stark cause, which gives me the feeling that this is where we will see Lady Stoneheart. If that is the case, I cannot wait to see Freys “hanging around” in the trees. I am concerned with Sansa Stark and Jon Snow because it looks like even if they rally all Northern Houses that are loyal to House Stark, they are stilled outnumbered. Even though Littlefinger is greedy, selfish, and treacherous, I think he is a necessary evil because based on the mathematics of Sansa Stark’s situation, she and Jon Snow may need The Vale’s support against the Boltons since their military is at full strength.

Also, I am pleased with Tyrion Lannister’s political skills in that he won the allegiance of the Red Temple of Volantis. As it has been proven time and again, religion can be a powerful political tool and Tyrion will use the priests of the Lord of Light to spread pro-Daenerys propaganda.

Now that the lair of the three-eyed raven has been destroyed, nothing now stands between the White Walkers and The Wall. Winter is so close, I can already feel the air freezing and see the darkness spreading like a plague. Brace yourselves for The Long Night!

The event that I look forward to the most in Game of Thrones is the second coming of The Long Night, which was a darkness and winter that lasted a generation. Throughout the show, we witnessed the White Walkers building their undead army and gradually marching towards The Wall. Meanwhile, The War of the Five Kings has left the Seven Kingdoms more weak and vulnerable than they have ever been, which makes them ripe for conquest for either Daenerys Targaryen or the White Walkers.

As of current events, Ramsay Snow has threatened both the Night’s Watch and their wildling allies. I predict that the resulting conflict between the Boltons, Night’s Watch, and wildlings will weaken The Wall’s defenders, leaving it vulnerable to attack. If The Wall is breached, Westeros will fall! The North will be the first kingdom hit by the White Walkers’ onslaught and by the time word spreads of what is happening, it will be too late and the other kingdoms will be easy prey. We have seen the White Walkers themselves and their undead army, but we have yet to see the pale spiders that are as big as hounds.

However, I believe there will be a reincarnation of The Last Hero from the first Long Night. I suspect that this new Last Hero will be either Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow, or Bran Stark.

If Daenerys Targaryen finds a way across The Narrow Sea, she will have the largest and most powerful army in the known world, consisting of over 8,000 Unsullied, 2,000 sellswords, now 100,000 Dothraki, and three dragons. With those numbers and firepower at her disposal, she could be a serious ally against the White Walkers especially due to their weakness to fire. Also, due to her family’s dark reputation, no one in the Seven Kingdoms would accept her claim to the Iron Throne, but if she were to arrive during the White Walkers’ invasion, she can be regarded as a savior and more of Westeros would accept her.

As for Jon Snow, when word spreads that he came back from the dead, he might become a symbol for The North to rally behind after the Boltons are dealt with. Since The North is the kingdom closest to The Wall, if Jon Snow can unite The North, they would be the first line of defense against the White Walkers and stall them until either Daenerys arrives or the rest of the kingdoms unite.

I am intrigued by Bran Stark’s training under the three-eyed raven because he has immense potential in magic, which could turn him into the Merlin of the Game of Thrones universe. Once his training under the three-eyed raven is complete and he learns his role in the war to come, I think Bran will become an irreplaceable asset against the White Walkers. Also, he could use his knowledge of the past, present, and future to guide the Seven Kingdoms to the desired outcome.

In the end of this new Long Night, I think the Seven Kingdoms will become even more unified than they ever were before. The reason for this is because when the first Long Night came, it allowed the hundred kingdoms of the First Men to unite into The North, becoming a more cohesive nation. Due to this, I think the same will happen to the rest of the Seven Kingdoms if they survive the new Long Night that is. Either way, I look forward to seeing how events will unfold.

Overall, this season on Game of Thrones, Winter is here . . . and the dead come with it!

I have watched the entire show of Game of Thrones and I must say that I am at my breaking point with the series. The mutiny against Jon Snow was the final straw for me and I have expectations for Season 6 that are unexpected. I have grown so tired of watching bad things happen to good people like the Starks while corrupt individuals like the Lannisters and their allies continue to commit atrocities. Therefore, I am rooting for the White Walkers, which is something I never thought I would do. I want the White Walkers to breach the Wall and wipe out the Seven Kingdoms along with their wretched system and hateful status quo. I want the slate wiped clean so that Westeros can have a fresh start and hopefully make a better system from the ashes, if they survive the White Walker invasion that is. Also, I hope Daenerys Targaryen will return to glory and finally prove to the Dothraki that she is strong enough to lead them. Winter has come!
