It has been a busy time here during the coronavirus. My family and I are making the best of it. We enjoyed both Mother’s Day and my birthday. My mother is making masks for nurses and doctors, my dad is still working, and I am on another book. My pit bulls are going on daily outings to the dog park and Fashion Island. My tortoise is awake from hibernation and is eating well. We are watching both our favorite shows and movies as well as kept tabs on the status of the outbreak. Overall, life goes on despite the coronavirus.
I discovered this article that talked about how Game of Thrones creator, George R. R. Martin, is spending his Coronavirus self-quarantine. Apparently, he has been writing daily during his social distancing, which includes finishing The Winds of Winter. George has the right idea about spending time during self-quarantine. I think I will do the same with my writing. With no job to go to and school shut down, I have a lot of time to kill. I just published Cosmic Genten so I think I will concentrate on writing my new superhero book. Based on how much time I have on my hands, I think I might get my new superhero book done by the end of the year. Wish me luck!
I have been listening to news updates on the Coronavirus outbreak, but it is clear that we have no coherent leadership in our federal government. Trump and his cronies keep spreading misinformation as usual. While I do appreciate the governors and mayors doing what they can to combat the situation across the country, I am unimpressed and angry about the Trump Administration’s complete failure to handle the Coronavirus pandemic. They waited two months to do something about it and by then it was too late. Because Trump and his minions have spent their entire Presidency spreading misinformation and lying about pretty much everything, they have absolutely no credibility, which is why their investors in the stock market are freaking out. Now, Trump is lying his ears off and sugarcoating the situation because he knows that with every case of Coronavirus death or infection, the stock market will continue to go haywire and his chances of being reelected will disappear. This whole thing could have been avoided if Trump didn’t disband the pandemic team two years ago. The only reason he disbanded them is solely because they were set up by Obama, which means disbanding them had nothing to do with policy; it had to do with Trump’s ego and the delusional belief that he could do better than Obama. Now that he disbanded the pandemic team and failed to form a replacement, we are in our current chaotic situation. Also, Trump is using every trick in his book to try and deflect blame from his poor response to the pandemic such as blaming Obama and the democrats, attacking the media, and even resorting to racism by calling the Coronavirus either “Chinese Virus” or “Kung Flu.” All of his usual tricks may work in normal times, but those tricks will only make things worse as the pandemic spreads. Overall, the political, economic, and social atmosphere of this country is more chaotic than ever. All of this dysfunction and mayhem is not supposed to happen in the United States. We are only in this situation because we have an inexperienced, irresponsible, pathologically lying man-child in the White House supported by a political party that was too weak, spineless, and corrupt to remove him from power when they had the chance. If they had removed Trump from power during the impeachment trial like they were supposed to, none of this would be happening and we might have someone more competent in charge.
As the Coronavirus spreads like wildfire, my family and I are under self quarantine. We are watching movies and shows on our streaming services, I’m spending more time writing, and my mother is spending more time quilting. Even though we are spending more time together as a family, there are several drawbacks to our current state. We can no longer go to our favorite places such as restaurants, movie theaters, and baseball stadiums. We go on occasional trips to the grocery store. When we go to the grocery store, we are notice that all the meat and bread products are picked clean and everyone was stockpiling on junk food, but the fruits and vegetables were largely untouched. I still don’t know why people are stockpiling on toilet paper. I can no longer go to my usual job or go to school until this crisis is under control, which disrupts my sense of normalcy. Overall, I feel like I am in a dystopian story or zombie apocalypse story.
