When the coronavirus pandemic started, we were forced to give up various aspects of our everyday lives in order to avoid either infection or death. I miss several aspects of my old life and look forward to returning to them when the pandemic is over. I miss joining social gatherings where I get to mingle with my friends, neighbors, and loved ones. I miss going inside restaurants because that would give me more options to choose from when it comes to food. I miss going on vacations and visiting my favorite locations such as Hawaii, New York City, and Washington D.C. Finally, I miss going to the movie theater and I am annoyed that all the movies I have been looking forward to have been repeatedly postponed. Even though I have grown accustomed to wearing a mask and doing social distancing, I look forward to when the pandemic is over and I get vaccinated. Only then will I get my life back.
This week, I underwent my very first Coronavirus test. I expected it to be uncomfortable as the swab was shoved up my nose. However, instead of being painful, it actually tickled. I have a sensitive nose when it comes to small physical contact like with the swab. I went through a sneezing fit that lasted for minutes. I eventually collected a sample with the swab and gave it to the doctor. This morning, I got the results and I am negative for the virus. I am relieved because I don’t want to infect anyone at my sister’s wedding. I also am glad that I am not at risk of dying from the virus or being physically ruined from the after effects. As long as tests remain available, I will continually test myself until a vaccine is made and the pandemic is over.
Over the weekend, it was revealed that Donald Trump has tested positive for Coronavirus infection. He is currently at Walter Reed Hospital, undergoing treatment. This is significant for a number of reasons. Trump is in the vulnerable age range, is morbidly obese, and has who knows what other health problems he is hiding from us. These issues increase his risk of dying from the Coronavirus. Honestly, I see this as karma because Trump and his cronies have been lying to us about the virus and railing against public health policies from the very beginning. Now, they are finally paying the price. His aides and doctors are trying to assure us he will be fine, but Trump and his cronies have lied to us so frequently day after day that we truly cannot trust a word they are saying. Due to this, we honestly don’t know anything about how Trump is handling the virus. However, I have heard a confirmed rumor that he is having trouble breathing. Also, half the West Wing got infected along with Republican Senators as well. The Republican Senators getting sick is significant because this turn of events causes their desperate attempt to take over the Supreme Court to go up in smoke for the moment. For now, three Republican Senators have been tested positive, but that number could increase in the near future considering how many of Trump’s enablers have tested positive in a short span of time. Overall, Trump’s infection and the infection of many of his cronies and enablers has thrown the Republican Party into chaos. If Trump dies before the election, there is no way the Republicans can find a winnable candidate in time to replace him. That is the problem with the current Republican Party. They have made Trump the linchpin to their organization. Without the linchpin, their whole organization will implode like a house of cards.
As the 2020 election draws closer, I am growing increasingly concerned about what the Trump Administration is plotting. A couple days ago, a staffer revealed that Trump and his supporters are plotting to steal the election by any and all means necessary. This “contingency plan” as the staffer called it involves the electoral college and the Supreme Court. With Ruth Bader Ginsburg dead, Trump and Republicans are fighting tooth and nail to gain control over her seat. If they can fill her vacant seat, their control over the Supreme Court will grow and the chances of them siding with whatever scheme Trump has planned will increase. With the electoral college, if Trump loses the electoral college, he will turn to the Republicans who control the swing states. Those Republicans will then swap the original electoral voters with Pro-Trump ones if Trump loses the original vote. Frankly, I am not surprised by this development. Trump is a man who is so arrogant, narcissistic, and egotistical that he will NEVER accept defeat no matter what. At a press conference the other day, he openly confessed that he would not accept the election results or allow a peaceful transfer of power if he loses. It is ironic because Trump spent the past four years spouting about a “liberal coup” and yet he himself is plotting a coup as we speak to steal the 2020 election. The worst part is that there is no part of the Constitution that stops him from doing this.
The only reason Trump is resorting to these extremes is because he is politically weak and has absolutely nothing to offer the American people. He wanted the title and power that came from being President of the United States, but he wanted none of the responsibility. He openly said that he took no responsibility for his failures or actions. He has let 200,000 people die and counting. If he is not removed from office, the death toll will increase because he is not going to do anything about the pandemic. He was caught on tape confessing that he knew how dangerous COVID-19 was and he lied to us anyway for months. The only reason he is pushing for vaccine as quickly as possible is because he is desperate for a way out of the mess he made with his pandemic response. I guarantee that if a vaccine is produced now, it will just be a false cure like he did with hydroxychloroquine. I am going to listen to the experts regarding the vaccine instead of Trump and his sycophantic quacks. With Joe Biden, we stand a better chance of surviving Coronavirus because at least he will be straight with us unlike Trump.
How many times do you have to see the evidence? How many times must the point be made? Trump is destroying America! Too many red lines have been crossed! Our country has in fundamental ways been polluted by avarice and political megalomania! This level of corruption was inevitable since the day Trump was sworn in! It was inevitable from when the Republicans decided to turn their backs on their Constitutional duty to keep the Trump in line! If Trump and his cronies and enablers are not removed from office NOW, there won’t be a United States in another four years! I cannot stress this enough! The very future of our nation is at stake in this election!
Because Trump has made wearing a mask a political and cultural issue instead of a health and safety issue, a lot of his supporters have been verbally attacking people for wearing masks. Due to this, a lot more people needlessly got sick and died while the coronavirus spread faster. This video is of a man in Arizona who verbally attacked people for wearing a mask and had to be carried out of the store like a petulant infant. I have had at least two encounters of such deranged characters. The first time was at the dog park, where I was confronted by a Trump supporter because I was wearing a mask that said “Vote”. A few days later, I was in line for Yogurtland and was yelled at by a maniacal woman for wearing protective medical gloves. These people have completely lost their minds because they believed the garbage Trump was spoon feeding them. I wear a mask and gloves for two reasons. First, I don’t want to get sick and potentially die. Second, I don’t want to spread the virus if I turn out to be an unwitting carrier. These Trump zealots and cultists can yell and scream at me all they want, but I am not changing how I handle the pandemic. It is what has kept me healthy and alive up until now.
It has been a busy time here during the coronavirus. My family and I are making the best of it. We enjoyed both Mother’s Day and my birthday. My mother is making masks for nurses and doctors, my dad is still working, and I am on another book. My pit bulls are going on daily outings to the dog park and Fashion Island. My tortoise is awake from hibernation and is eating well. We are watching both our favorite shows and movies as well as kept tabs on the status of the outbreak. Overall, life goes on despite the coronavirus.
I discovered this article that talked about how Game of Thrones creator, George R. R. Martin, is spending his Coronavirus self-quarantine. Apparently, he has been writing daily during his social distancing, which includes finishing The Winds of Winter. George has the right idea about spending time during self-quarantine. I think I will do the same with my writing. With no job to go to and school shut down, I have a lot of time to kill. I just published Cosmic Genten so I think I will concentrate on writing my new superhero book. Based on how much time I have on my hands, I think I might get my new superhero book done by the end of the year. Wish me luck!
I have been listening to news updates on the Coronavirus outbreak, but it is clear that we have no coherent leadership in our federal government. Trump and his cronies keep spreading misinformation as usual. While I do appreciate the governors and mayors doing what they can to combat the situation across the country, I am unimpressed and angry about the Trump Administration’s complete failure to handle the Coronavirus pandemic. They waited two months to do something about it and by then it was too late. Because Trump and his minions have spent their entire Presidency spreading misinformation and lying about pretty much everything, they have absolutely no credibility, which is why their investors in the stock market are freaking out. Now, Trump is lying his ears off and sugarcoating the situation because he knows that with every case of Coronavirus death or infection, the stock market will continue to go haywire and his chances of being reelected will disappear. This whole thing could have been avoided if Trump didn’t disband the pandemic team two years ago. The only reason he disbanded them is solely because they were set up by Obama, which means disbanding them had nothing to do with policy; it had to do with Trump’s ego and the delusional belief that he could do better than Obama. Now that he disbanded the pandemic team and failed to form a replacement, we are in our current chaotic situation. Also, Trump is using every trick in his book to try and deflect blame from his poor response to the pandemic such as blaming Obama and the democrats, attacking the media, and even resorting to racism by calling the Coronavirus either “Chinese Virus” or “Kung Flu.” All of his usual tricks may work in normal times, but those tricks will only make things worse as the pandemic spreads. Overall, the political, economic, and social atmosphere of this country is more chaotic than ever. All of this dysfunction and mayhem is not supposed to happen in the United States. We are only in this situation because we have an inexperienced, irresponsible, pathologically lying man-child in the White House supported by a political party that was too weak, spineless, and corrupt to remove him from power when they had the chance. If they had removed Trump from power during the impeachment trial like they were supposed to, none of this would be happening and we might have someone more competent in charge.
As the Coronavirus spreads like wildfire, my family and I are under self quarantine. We are watching movies and shows on our streaming services, I’m spending more time writing, and my mother is spending more time quilting. Even though we are spending more time together as a family, there are several drawbacks to our current state. We can no longer go to our favorite places such as restaurants, movie theaters, and baseball stadiums. We go on occasional trips to the grocery store. When we go to the grocery store, we are notice that all the meat and bread products are picked clean and everyone was stockpiling on junk food, but the fruits and vegetables were largely untouched. I still don’t know why people are stockpiling on toilet paper. I can no longer go to my usual job or go to school until this crisis is under control, which disrupts my sense of normalcy. Overall, I feel like I am in a dystopian story or zombie apocalypse story.
