WRITING UPDATE: THIRD SHORT STORY (CHAPTER 8)

I am entering the eighth chapter of my third short story and this will be the most morally ambiguous scene in the story. It will depict the origins of Vogan’s god complex and how he views himself otherwise, which will set the stage for the events that are currently happening in the series. Also, this chapter marks the near-completion of this particular short story and the beginning of the fourth. I must say that I feel a very special case of satisfaction from finishing this short story because I have always wanted to depict the origins of the main villain of my series who is the driving force of everything that has transpired so far.

WRITING UPDATE: THIRD SHORT STORY (CHAPTER 7)

I have started the seventh chapter of my current short story and it is the chapter I have been waiting for ever since I started this short story. As a warning, this chapter will be the darkest and most graphic scene in the plot since it will depict an individual’s descent into madness. Some of the events that will take place in this chapter are based on things I wish could happen to anyone and everyone who irritate or anger me. In a way, this will be a very therapeutic chapter to write. On the side note, this chapter will serve as the turning point of how Vogan became the main villain of my series and set the stage for the events that have taken place in my series. I will keep you updated on any further developments.

WRITING UPDATE: FUTURE PROJECTS

It appears that in the near future, my writing schedule will become even more elaborate due to the rise of new projects that will expand my series beyond their book forms. In addition to the main five volumes of my series and the short story sub-series, I am also planning to continue the graphic novel script I started last year as well as utilizing the skills I acquired in my Screenwriting Classes to convert my books into screenplays. With enough luck and perseverance, I hope to have them made into both films and graphic novels. It sounds like a full plate and hefty task to undertake, but they are among my goals to accomplish with my series. Wish me luck!

WRITING UPDATE: THIRD SHORT STORY (CHAPTER 6)

I have started on the sixth chapter of my third short story and this will be a critical piece of the story that will set the stage for the events in the main series. Essentially, it will portray the catalyst that pushes Vogan over the edge and transforms him into the main villain of the whole series. The chapter following this one will be the darkest chapter in the story and will involve some aspects of my imagination that must never see the light of day. It is only fitting that the next chapter be the darkest in the whole short story since Vogan is the incarnation of the negative parts of my personality. One might say that writing about Vogan and his origins is a form of therapy that I would not find anywhere else. I have been looking forward to writing the next chapter for some time.

CONCEPT: UNDEAD PHYSIOLOGY

One of the most common and popular elements revolves around the living dead. There are a number of examples of undead creatures that have been depicted in fiction ranging from zombies, vampires, and many more. Being undead is a rather curious form of existence that comes in many forms. In some cases, your body is deceased, but your mind is intact and still active. In other cases, your body is animated, but your mind is a blank slate and you’re a mindless abomination. When I think about it, it would be strange and unusual if I was unable to breathe, tire, or have a heartbeat while still being able to move. In my upcoming fourth short story, the supervillain the main character will face will be either undead or something resembling it. Unlike cliches like zombies and vampires, I am planning on making this individual something completely entirely different. Based on what I have planned so far, the whole idea is already giving me the goosebumps. This new short story, which will commence creation after my current third short story is completed, will be yet another example of asking the age-old question: “How do you kill something that is already dead?”

WONDERCON 2015 MEMORIES

IMAG0433

As I look back on my time at WonderCon 2015, I think about a number of fond memories I had while presenting my book signing. Among them is this encounter I had with a nice lady who was dressed as a cosplay witch hunter. She was intrigued with my series and her outfit gave me some inspiration for future works. In fact, my book signing had attracted the attention of many cosplay people. One of them was carrying a Graboid from the Tremors film franchise. I look forward to what next year has to offer.

WRITING UPDATE: THIRD SHORT STORY (CHAPTER 5)!!!

I have reached the fifth chapter of my third short story. This section of the plot will explore both the past and the present. In the past, the technological advancements instigated by the existence of neohumans will be explored in addition to what kind of society they would have and how that would affect the human colonies surrounding them. In the present, Vogan continues to spend his free time only to find out how crime syndicates would take advantage of the sudden increase in the neohuman population as a result of volume three. In both time periods, the reader will acquire a better understanding of what drives Vogan and what he plans to do in future volumes.

WRITING UPDATE: THIRD SHORT STORY (CHAPTER 4)!!!

I am getting close to finishing the fourth chapter of my third short story and this is where the plot starts to get intense. In essence, a game-changing event transpires that creates conflicting opinions about Vogan and those close to him. In future chapters, the consequences and aftermath of this event will be further elaborated. Also, there will be a few hints as to what Vogan’s master plan will entail. There will be tragedy and betrayal within this chapter along with a foreshadow of the villain Vogan will become. I am looking forward to writing this short story even more and I will keep you updated.

CREATURE: THE WOOLY MAMMOTH

wpid-img_20150725_151145518.jpg

One of the most iconic Ice Age creatures is the wooly mammoth. Thousands of years ago, this animal could be found in Europe, Siberia, and North America. This particular specimen was one of the many fossils I encountered during my visit to the La Brea Tar Pits. When it was alive, this animal weighed about seven and a half tons. The mammoth has been one of the favorite prey items of ancient man, which may have been one of the reasons for its extinction. However, ancient man, mere mortals, hunted mammoths with spears and other primitive weapons. If Vogan, a neohuman who wields power beyond reason, were to hunt a mammoth like the rest of his tribe, what methods would he utilize? That is a question I have been asking myself as I continue to write my third short story. Imagine if the most powerful neohuman ever to exist confronted seven and a half tons of muscle and rage. That would be a serious clash of the titans.

WRITING UPDATE: THIRD SHORT STORY (CHAPTER 3)!!!

I have started the third chapter of my third short story and I must say that I have been looking forward to writing this particular chapter for some time now. The reason for this is because it will demonstrate what Vogan does during his free time when he is not running his syndicate. I have gained inspiration for Vogan’s extracurricular activities from my passion of culture and the arts. In addition, the end of the previous chapter will give a glimpse at what Vogan’s master plan will include. In future chapters, it will be revealed that Vogan came up with this master plan through the most unexpected of ways. Just as a warning, Vogan’s descent into madness will be very graphic and dark.
