In my fantasy series, the emperor will have highly trained and fanatically loyal bodyguards that are armed to the teeth. One of the standard issue weapons of the emperor’s personal guard will be the guandao. Just as the Pope’s Swiss Guard’s standard issue polearm is the halberd, the Imperial Guard’s polearm will be the guandao.
