I watched an interesting documentary that talked about the prehistoric region known as Hateg Island. Hateg Island was a place where dinosaurs that were normally large on the mainland shrank due to their smaller habitat. A smaller habitat meant less room to move around, less food to eat, and less water to drink. Due to this, the dinosaurs on the island needed to reduce their size in order to survive. Since my dinosaur book will take place in a relatively small environment, I am thinking of applying this version of dwarfism to the story. However, despite their smaller size, these dinosaurs will still be a respectable size as well as powerful and dangerous. Another interesting question would be if these reverse engineered dinosaurs are as big as they are in an isolated environment, how much bigger will they become in a more vast habitat.
